[link] original brilliant painting by John Singer Sargent

I wanted to do a recreation of this for the longest time. I'm didn't try to completely copy his his work, just wanted to do a my style meets his version.
he was a genius, and he's one of the biggest influences on my colouring techniques... him and rockwell *gush

here's a close up... don't make fun of the lack of fingernails... they weren't really required for the overall painting [link]

I recognized this painting from the thumbnail, so I'd say it's a pretty good likeness! Although... it looks like the infamous shoulder straps are missing! Haha.

That's absolutely gorgeous. I love John Singer Sargent, although I've always found Madame X to be the least lively of his portraits, probably because the eyes are barely visible- you get none of the shine. It makes her look cold, and it's very effective.

This is absoluely gorgeous. I've admired Singer Sargent for the longest time, he and Howard Sanden are two of my all time favourite painters. Have you ever heard of a painter called Charles Pfahl? Your work here reminds me of his with its strong dark tones and wonderful white skin so smoothly rendered. I'm inclined to like this almost as much as the original Singer Sargent painting. It's truly wonderful. And having read a comment further down, I would second the notion you should join up at CGTalk... I think your work would be very well received there, and would only help you improve to even greater heights. You have a wonderful gift!

Truly a beautiful piece, and preferred over the Sargent painting it was inspired by. Richer color palette, outstanding character design.

Beautiful in every way....

Looks super-cool with the revised, modernised proportions and facial features. Retains the essense of Madame X, with a bit more oomph :) Great painting!

the tonal values are fu***ng amazing!!
I love her face and the shape of her body, and all the make up she has to make her so pale... I'm wondering why you forced so much the pink/orange/red on her ear... :-?
