Skintone Tut - longest ever by cypherx Skintone Tut - longest ever by cypherx
Or it seems to me. If you glaze over, I'm sorry, but there was no easy way for me to do a tutorial on skin.
All done in photoshop 7. Do try to remember that I'm just sharing my own vantage, you can take it or leave it

Fantastic tutorial! :D

I spent about half a day trying to mix together colors for my characters face and it was complete waste of time and effort. This is unbelievably helpful! Hopefully now I can devote that time to actually painting and not aimlessly circling the same drain. THANKS! :)

Wow. This is so cool! And will be very useful.

Also, I don't know if you'll ever see this comment, but Umm...I have one problem though...I'm a total photoshop noob and can you, maybe, explain how you got your brushes to look like that. Mine look completely different, even when I change the settings. Idk. Its okay if you can't, but it would be really helpful. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Ty.

I have a feeling this is going to be a very useful tut. :) I always have kind of an issue finding good skintones, so I often eyedrop from photos... But finding photos with a good colour range is hard sometimes. Awesome array of tips you give there. :D

This is an amazing tutorial-very helpful and complete, I would say. I think the two girls you painted and the Dreamer are beautiful, you should work on them a little more and then submit them like a painting. The horses coming out from the dress is a brilliant idea.

Anyway, I have an important question! Can a person paint using photophop without a wacom tablet (or just any tablet, for that matter)??

:iconcypherx:

they can... for the longest I didn't have a Wacom, I had a cheap Aiptek (spelling??)... I couldn't see you possibly doing it with a mouse though... but I just don't have the patience for such a thing, doesn't mean it isn't possible.

Hi I'm trying to use this tutorial but I can't create the brush I follow your instructions and tick, shape dynamics and other dynamics but I don't understand what x2 is and stuff.

My brush doesn't look like your brush afterwards.

Highly informative. A definite keeper. Swatching makeup .. swatches as they are called, from their websites, is also a good way to find color.

Thanks a bundle, it's really useful. I have been slowly slipping into coloring lineart, but choosing the right palette has always been quite difficult.

I have saved your tutorial, and next time I have to do skin I'll give it a shot.

The basics have not changed in CS3, brush presets and choosing colours is exactly the same + some small additions. You'll do just fine :)
