she's holding phil hale's book... I worked on this until midnight instead of my other work in progress... Anyhow, inspired by rockwell as he loved to tell stories with his paintings, and that's one of my goals with learning to paint... to be able to convey something, or at least make people wonder.
scanned and referenced my "Goad" cover, also looked up readheads so I could attempt to get her hair to look decent. Was going for stylized realism. I did low sat on the bg girls and made sure they weren't crisp, because I tried higher sat, and they took away from my main character too much. I could have left them completely in the sketch phase if I had wanted, I suppose.
anyhow, wanted to say this will be my last submission for a little while, not going on an artistic vacation or anything, just have shitloads of stuff I have to do. so sorry for the overflux of submissions. It's funny, you can always tell my life isn't going well when I either completely stop paiting, or spend my entire time focused on it. heh.
That reminds me of something that happened 3 years ago.
I was sitting outside at lunch at school, and this group of girls was giggling, then I heard one of them say, "Look at that ugly bitch,".. so I glared, and she said, "Oops! I think she heard me!" and giggled.
hm, this is very sad and so real like. i like all the shadows and all the emotions protrayed, this is good work. makes me want to go and comfort her. beautiful work.
Very strong image, even if a bit unoriginal. Having said that, the technique is superb, and you have some great brushstrokes going around; I've said it 100x before, but your looke style really suits you (not to mention conrasts a lot of digital work I've seen here, which is a good thing). Great work, hope all is well with you (professionally and personally).
Your work is amazing (i'm a redhead so I can relate to the teasing, though i don't have big ears )
I just love how you've captured her expression so wonderfully!
Beautifully done - there's a lot of life in the brushstrokes, especially on the girl in the green dress. I think you told the story with the painting wonderfully
No need for explanations: beautiful. Fucking kids...always so cruel... You got the expression so well in her face, the emotional charge is there and it's hard to face. Made my night! <3

Very good painting.
I think we can all relate to her in one sense or another..about our insecurities and whatnot.
Anywho.
I love the colors used and how strings of her shirt are flying to the side...it's a nice touch.
Well done
I love it
